I’m writing from the future again, but this time because we ended up hanging out with friends we met here Bali yesterday. They’re here from Jacksonville, FL! So instead of doing my homework like a responsible adult, I’ve waited until just about the last possible minute!
It’s not really a problem, because I think about what I’m going to write all week. When I sit down to write, I’m just writing. It takes me about 20 minutes. A week of thinking, and 20 minutes of typing.
The truth is that what I actually write about is sometimes. . . often. . . different than what I thought I was going to write about.
Such is the creative journey… because such is life. I make some plans, have some ideas… and then whatever happens is what happens. Isn’t there a quote about how life is what happens while you’re making your plans? The older I get, the looser my plans are and with more time built into them. Because I’m learning how little control I actually have. I also just don’t necessarily have all the information, and so I reserve the right to change my mind. A plan is just a starting point. Somewhere to jump off.
