Around this time last year, I warned you that the holidays are coming and I recommended staying sane. So here’s your warning. Thanksgiving is a month away. Christmas isn’t far behind. Re-read last years holiday post for sanity tips!
People who know me a bit might think I’m a planner-ish person. It looks like I don’t rush and everything gets done. And well, that’s true. But it’s not because I’m a planner. It’s because I’m obsessed with time, so I’m always looking out over the horizon to see what’s coming. If it looks like something unavoidable is coming – holidays, winter, tax deadlines – I’ll at least start mentally preparing for it. I’ll buy the wool socks at Costco and researching our next January beach escape.
I’m already ordering holiday cards for my portrait clients. If you’re thinking about anything holiday + photo, now is the time to talk about it. When you’re dressing up for that first Christmas party, it’s already to late to plan Christmas photos. (But it’s a great time to plan Valentine’s ones!)
Time is a sneaky little devil. But you can be ready for it.
