Were you popular in school? I was definitely not. I was chubby and book-wormy and short. I had immigrant parents and cheap clothes and the self-confidence of a store brand cotton swab on a stick.
I have spent my entire adult life willfully avoiding anything that resembled a popularity contest. It’s a game that was never good to me, so why would I ever play it?
When those “Best of” contests come around, I willfully ignore them. I know my clients love me (I tell myself) I don’t need to see how popular I am. Except this time I got an email from a dear friend asking me to write her organization in for her category. And I thought, while I’m at it, I may as well write myself in! What the heck! Then I talked myself out of it before hitting submit, then I talked myself back into it.

I’d love to see if I can get on this “Best of” list. We could get invited to a fancy party, plus it’d be great visibility! 🙂 It doesn’t matter where you live. You just need an email address.
