This fall I photographed a sweet and lovely wedding held at Denver University. Heather and Eric met while undergrads there, and so it just made sense to hold their wedding there too. The details of this wedding were amazing… not because they were especially elaborate, but actually because they were so simple, thoughtful and elegant.
Blue and yellow were the colors running through the wedding theme, and showed up in unexpected places like the bride’s blue shoes, bridesmaids’ headbands and the cocktail hour’s signature drink. The place card holder was especially clever, and simple, using strips of ribbon to tuck the cards into. Tall yellow gladiolas adorned the tables, along with simple blue napkins.
Instead of a traditional cake, Heather and Eric opted for a buffet of cupcakes. And who doesn’t get excited when they see a table full of cupcakes!! Lego figures topped their extra large cupcake, which reflects how playful they are.
But my favorite favorite detail of the day was the flower-edged walkway to the ceremony site. A whole bunch of yellow daisies were individually tied to forks and stuck in the ground!! Forks!! Who thinks of these things!! Details likes these are one of my 57,092 favorite things about weddings. I love seeing how couples express themselves and their connection through the details of the day!
