I can give you 100 reasons why hiring your friend who has a nice camera to photograph your wedding / family / event / newborn is a really bad idea. Due to reason #92, Jared called me in a panic last Saturday afternoon. His photographer friend, who was scheduled to photograph his proposal to Angie, went into labor that morning a week or so before her due date. So Jared's plans and reservations were suddenly all up in the air. Not to mention that he was nervous enough about proposing without a new obstacle popping up.
Don't get me wrong... life happens to all of us. We get sick, we have car accidents, emergencies happen. Knock on wood, life has never tried to take me out from being able to deliver on a photography commitment. But if Life dared such a thing, I have things in place that would enable me to deliver regardless. I have networks of photographers all over the world that I can shout out to and would show up in place. I have equipment, and backup equipment, along with access to rental equipment and borrow-able equipment. Knock on wood again, I've never needed it. But it's all there just in case.
So, Jared called me in a panic on Saturday and 3 hours later I had the exquisite honor and pleasure to witness this. Our human experience at is loveliest.
