Many years before I photographed my first wedding, I shot families and children in a style I simply called un-stuffy, un-studio. In 2002, my good friends had a baby and asked me if I could go to the park with them and take some pictures of their little girl. Little did I know that this would become something called “lifestyle portraiture” as I started doing it for them regularly, and then do it for their friends. Now that baby girl is 7 years old, has a little sister, and lives in North Carolina. My friends fly me there once a year to go to the park with them, or hang out in the back yard, and take pictures.
When is the last time you had a good photo taken with the ones you love? Your kids, spouse, family and pets. How many good photos do you have of your children? Photos other than the school pictures where he or she was posed uncomfortably and smiling nervously?
The difference is that I am a photojournalist. I don’t pose you or your children, and I don’t make them smile for me. It’s the same for couples, and families and pets. We just go somewhere pretty, and I kinda tell you where the good light is. And then you play. I have my big lens, 40 feet away, and by the time everyone is tired out you have a wonderful memory of playing with your kids, I have gorgeous photos for you to frame, hang, email, put on your cell phone, Facebook and holiday cards. Photos for your heart to cherish.
With the holidays sneaking up on us faster than we realize, now is the perfect time to schedule a Portrait Session for the coming weeks. Any session that takes place before December 1st will include 25 custom photo cards. You’ll get your cards about 1 week after you select the photos and the design. I have card designs ranging from elegant, religious, traditional to fun, spunky, colorful and modern. Call me at 917-328-0664 or email me to book your session today! (I’m in Fort Collins, but still quite attached to my NYC area code)
